The goal for this design was to open up the kitchen to the living room. Removing the column was cost prohibitive, so a design that implemented the column as part of the island was necessary. Natural slab countertops became a requirement to cover the large island cabinetry. With the space open, the medium stain Eagle Rock, helps create bold a focus for the design. Although mostly hidden from the front, the accent tile provides another focal point to the new space.
